Wave packets and the uncertainty relations. Scattering of particles. Tunnelling. Angular momentum. Spin. Addition of angular momenta. The hydrogen atom. Fine structure. Identical particles and symmetry. The Zeeman effect.

Assessment is by assignments and examination.

Prerequisite(s): Any two pf PHY201, PHY202 and PHY206 and MAT214 (or 203) or both MAT215 (or APM212) and MAT216 (or APM211).
